You made me picture the day when my parents will lose our 16 year old dash hound. My brother moved out recently, which means this old dog is the last “child” living at home. The last sign of how everything used to be. It’s gonna be a devastating day.

Wow Rick, I enjoyed your story about meeting Captain Kirk (how cool!) but the story about your sick ferret and the vet really brought your point home. I like this idea of a story replacing the intimacy of a handshake. I've noticed this myself, that sharing something a little vulnerable about myself tends to open up space for everyone in the conversation to do the same. I could probably do it more though as I'm trying to become more comfortable with real vulnerability. Thank you for sharing your stories here!
